DC Islamabad Hamza Shafqaat Reveals He Has No Govt. Accommodation, Sparks Debate Online

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad Hamza Shafqaat recently in a tweet shared that he does not have a government accommodation.

Hamza Shafqaat was responding to a tweet that compared the salaries of DSP and Pakistan Administrative Service Officers.

The tweet said that the monthly salary and allowance of a 17th grade officer of Pakistan Administrative Service is around 187,000 while the salary and benefits of a DSP of the same grade is around 104,000.

In response Hamza Shafqaat wrote that “I am in Grade 19 with 14 years of service posted as DC and my salary is even less than DSP sab and provided with no Govt accommodation.”

In another tweet, he also made it clear that it is the spirit of public service and not the money because of which he chose his career.

He revealed that not just him but Chief Commissioner Islamabad also has no government accommodation.

Now, this tweet has sparked a debate on social media around the facilities and pay scale for civil servants.

Many others came forward and shared that despite several years of service they didn’t receive a significant increment.

Many also raised their voice against a lack of uniformity with regard to the pay structures with in government offices.

And then there were those who didn’t believe him and called him out.

Later, in a series of tweets, Hamza Shafqaat cleared that his intention was only to reveal and clarify reality.
