Dale Steyn And Shane Watson Name Babar Azam As A Leading Batter

Legendary South African fast bowler, Steyn during an online question and answer session named Babar Azam as the best batsman across formats. While responding to the question that asked, “Who’s the best batsman across all formats currently in your opinion?”, the 38 year old said, “Maybe Babar? He’s pretty darn good.”

Former Australian all-rounder, Shane Watson on the other hand during an interview with the International Cricket Council (ICC) named Babar Azam as the second best batsman in Test Cricket. He ranked Virat Kohli ahead of Babar as the best Test batsman and placed Steve Smith, Kane Williamson and Joe Root on number three, four and five respectively.

While explaining his decision Watson said, “Babar Azam is playing incredibly well. [It’s great] to be able to see how he has adapted his game to really move his game to Test cricket as well. Babar Azam would probably be No.2 at the moment.”
