“COVID-19 Vaccination Open In Pakistan for 65 And Above,” Asad Umar

Asad Umar, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) head informed on his official Twitter account that the registration for Covid-19 vaccination is now open for citizens 65 and above.

He wrote,

“Pleased to announce that registration for getting covid vaccine is now open for all citizens 65 and above.”

Umar has also informed the citizens about the process of getting registered. He further added in his tweet,

“Just write down ur CNIC number and send message on 1166.”

“God willing (Inshallah), vaccinations for this age group will start in march,” Umar concluded.

A special PAF plane carrying Chinese Sinopharm vaccines arrived in Pakistan in the first week of February 2021, and soon after the vaccination drive started in the country. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on National Health Services, Dr. Faisal Sultan announced the good news on social media where he went on to say that the vaccination drive will prioritize the healthcare workers first.

According to data collected from the NCOC, 27,000 frontline healthcare workers have been vaccinated across different provinces of Pakistan. As of now, 21,121 health workers have received the jab in Sindh, 4,458 in Punjab, 691 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 274 in Islamabad Capital Territory, 312 in Gilgit Baltistan, 239 in AJK and 133 in Balochistan.

Soon after, the NCOC also released a detailed plan for the citizens on how to register for the vaccination and get vaccinated as well.

The official website for the NCOC, the nerve center of unified national effort against the novel coronavirus also informs the citizens that the Covid-19 vaccination in Pakistan will take place in phases, starting with frontline healthcare workers. It also says that upon availability of vaccines the eligible citizens will be informed to register for it.

It looks like another phase of the Covid-19 vaccination has started now that Asad Umar has made the announcement. Watch this space for more updates.
