Revolt Against Imran Khan After The 1992 World Cup
Rumors suggest that differences over the distribution of prize money following the 1992 world cup victory made way for a revolt against the then skipper i.e. Imran Khan. Certain media reports suggest that Salim Malik and Ramiz Raja were among those who were ready to rebel and that the group was led by Javed Miandad.
Over the years former cricketers have also blamed Wasim Akram for playing a double game and informing Imran Khan about what was conspiring against him. Hence, the victorious world cup skipper decided to retire following the land-mark victory in order to avoid an embarrassing situation. Basit Ali however, in his interview hasn’t talked about this part of the entire episode one bit.

Imran Khan Used Wasim Akram To Remove Javed Miandad
Nearly a year later, Javed Miandad lost captaincy owing to poor results and hence, Wasim Akram took over. Akram within a few months of his appointment allowed Basit Ali a debut and soon he was dubbed as a younger version of Miandad.
Basit Ali however, during the interview says that all those comparisons were made in order to create a rationale for Miandad’s ouster.

Basit Ali, Javed Miandad & Wasim Akram All Lost While Imran Khan Stood Victorious
Basit Ali has blamed Wasim Akram for taking orders during the time from Imran Khan – something that eventually led to a revolt against the left-arm pacer and hence, his removal from captaincy.
Nevertheless, Miandad had already been dropped by then and from there on wards he was able to don national colors only once i.e. during the 1996 world cup. Sour relationship with Wasim Akram and other teammates resulted in Basit Ali suffering and ultimately losing his place in the national team.
Thus, if rumors and what Basit Ali has said is to be believed then, it was only Imran Khan who was able to take revenge and win while all others lost in one way or the other during the entire episode.
