Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam has backed Sarfaraz Ahmed as Pakistan’s number one Test wicket-keeper batter. He also explained that Sarfaraz will be the country’s first choice wicket-keeper during the #PAKvsSL Test series which is due to begin later in the month.

Babar Azam Backs Sarfaraz Ahmed
During a press conference, while answering a question on Sarfaraz, Pakistan’s skipper said, “Sarfaraz bhai performed really well in last series. He will be my first choice [as wicketkeeper]. However, we will make a final decision after reaching there and looking at the combination. We will select the best possible team.”

Also while explaining that team’s vice-captain i.e. Mohd. Rizwan is unlikely to represent the green shirts in the playing XI Babar said, “I don’t think it is necessary. If a vice-captain doesn’t play, then it doesn’t really affect the team negatively. We will select the playing XI after looking at the conditions.”

On the other hand, while talking about Pakistan’s match against India Babar said, “We are going to play World Cup not only against India. There are nine other teams as well with whom we have to play our respective matches. We will only be able to reach finals once we defeat all of them. Our focus is not on one team; our focus is on ten teams altogether. Our plan is to play equally good against all ten teams so that we can reach the finals.”
