1. Pakistani Spinners Disappoint

Following early breakthroughs, it seemed as if Pakistan was going to restrict Bangladesh to somewhere around 200 to 225 runs. Nevertheless, Pakistani spinners gave away too many easy runs on a wicket that was providing assistance to spin bowling.

Pakistani selectors then need to revisit their strategy and see if one of the two i.e. Shadab Khan or Mohd. Nawaz needs to be dropped for future One Day International (ODI) series to make way for a senior spin-bowling all-rounder.

Defeat against Bangladesh during Asia Cup, 2018 is a first real debacle of sorts ever since Sarfaraz took over as Pakistan’s skipper. There is then little or no doubt that he has lost ground as a leader following the defeat.

Saifi then, now finds himself under pressure to perform against Australia in order to sustain his position.

4. A Clueless Shadab at Number 6

The entire support staff serving Pakistan need to be blamed for over-estimating batting abilities of Shadab Khan and asking him to bat at number 6 during the game. The decision also puts a question mark on the selection of regular batsman Asif Ali who wasn’t relied upon at his regular number in a situation where the men in green needed to rotate the strike.

On a positive note, Junaid Khan made an excellent comeback and hence, should now be in the reckoning for the Test series against Australia.

Imam-ul-Haq, on the other hand, was brilliant during the game and throughout the tournament and hence, the opening batsman has not only justified his selection but also consolidated his position up the order in Pakistan’s ODI side.
