Mohsin Khan has held the position before with reasonable success. It was during his tenure that careers of Junaid Khan, Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq and Ahmed Shehzad blossomed. Moreover, Misbah-ul-Haq was also appointed as Pakistan’s captain during his time. Nevertheless, he is prone to making controversial statements and hence, PCB does have a thing or two to worry about while they consider him for the post.

Moin Khan too has served as Pakistan’s chief selector before and his tenure ended following a disastrous world cup campaign in 2015. Moreover, while on duty, he also found himself in the spotlight owing to a avoidable casino controversy. Hence, PCB would be wary of his poor track record. Nevertheless, he has recently raised his credentials while leading Quetta Gladiators to victory during PSL 4. Moreover, he also has a great working relationship with Sarfraz Ahmed who is likely to be retained as captain for the limited over formats. Therefore, it is no surprise that PCB has him in mind for the important position.

To his credit Aamir Sohail during his tenure as chief selector, PCB introduced a number of star cricketers including Mohd. Hafeez and Umar Gul. Nevertheless, he has always been controversy prone and has been reported by colleagues on more than one occasion owing to serious attitude issues. Moreover, he is also been very vocal against the current government and thus, despite being amongst the front-runners for the position of chief selector, PCB, it is likely that he will miss out.
