Here is a look at why Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) shouldn’t consider Waqar Younis as bowling coach after the former captain applied for the vacant post a few days back.

Has Already Served Before Without Success
Waqar has already had two stints without much success both as Pakistan’s bowling and head coach. Hence, it is understood that his coaching style has been tried and tested before and that it hasn’t produced results. Waqar then has nothing new to offer and PCB for sure, is better off ignoring his application without giving it much of a thought.

A Controversial Past
His terms as head coach in particular produced plenty of unwanted drama in the dressing room. Quite a few of the cricketers who had turned against him back in 2016 i.e. when he was removed from the job are still part of Pakistan’s future plans. Thus, his controversial past and poor reputation with key players is good enough a reason because which PCB shouldn’t consider Waqar Younis as bowling coach.

His Stature Can Become A Problem
Waqar is likely to be give tough time to the expected head coach i.e. Misbah-ul-Haq who has served under him for a significant period of time. This then is yet another reason why PCB should simply overlook Waqar Younis’ application for the post of Pakistan’s bowling coach.
