Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) conducted fitness tests yesterday. So, media reports suggest that these world cup probables couldn’t pass PCB’s fitness test and here is a look at whether it matters or not.

Imad Wasim

Imad Wasim has a chronic knee issue and it is understood that he had been working with physios at National Academy well before the exercise was conducted. Nevertheless, despite all efforts he is yet to regain full fitness and therefore, requires more time. PCB then, is likely to facilitate the left-arm spinner as he is expected to make a full recovery within the next two or three weeks.

The Case Of Yasir Shah

Not for the first time, Yasir Shah has failed a fitness test. He was not among those who were likely to be selected anyway. With Mohd. Hafeez and Shadab Khan available again, Pakistan wouldn’t be too bothered with the leg-spinner not being able to pass the Yo-yo test. Nevertheless, this will reflect badly on Yasir’s performance and he could find himself in trouble if something similar happens again within the next one year or so.

The Case Of Abid Ali And Hasnain

Names of Mohd. Hasnain and Abid Ali are also being reported among those who have failed the mandatory test. However, PCB is expected to go lenient in their case simply because they are new to the set-up.

Nevertheless, some of these guys may still be part of the ODIs against England but are almost certain not to be picked for the world cup if they fail to meet the required standards when the fitness tests are conducted again before the 23^rd of May, 2019.
