Last year Pakistanis had been deeply demoralized when Lahore High Court acquitted Shah Hussain, who was the main accused in Khadija Siddiqui’s stabbing case.
However, the justice system redeemed itself today when a three-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa ordered the arrest of Khadija Siddiqui’s stabber, Shah Hussain. The reasons for this judgement will be recorded at a later date.
As soon as the news broke out, the entire country’s focus has shifted from bickering over the recently announced mini budget to rejoicing the Supreme Court’s judgement.
There is of course, a lot of love being sent Khadija’s way for bravely fighting the case against a much more powerful opponent and standing her ground against all odds.

Today’s judgement in the Khadija stabbing case is most certainly a huge milestone for the justice system in Pakistan. It has not merely set a strong legal precedent but has also given hope to average citizens who feel reluctant to turn to the courts for fear of failure.
None of this would, of course have been possible without Khadija Siddiqui and her unwavering resolve to seek justice. She’s certainly a daughter that Pakistan should rightfully feel proud of!
