Shane Watson is likely to takeover Pakistan’s dugout as a head coach. It is worth mentioning here the fact that earlier in the year, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had accepted Mohd. Hafeez’s resignation as the country’s team director following a poor tour of Australia and New Zealand.

Shane Watson Favorite To Become Pakistan’s Head Coach
Cricket Pakistan reported that “Shane Watson has emerged as a strong contender” for the head coach position. Watson who is currently serving in the Gladiator’s camp as their head coach has done wonders during the ongoing season as the franchise after a long time has managed to perform well in the tournament. His presence in the camp then, has surely benefitted the Riley Rousseau led side.

The publication further reported that another name from the Gladiators camp i.e. Viv Richards is also being considered for the position of team mentor prior to the #T20WC that is scheduled to be played in the West Indies and USA later in the year.

The publication while citing “sources” also revealed that PCB is in discussion with Watson and that he is also expected to meet with PCB Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi in the coming days. If the negotiations are successful, then this should be the first international assignment for the former Australian all-rounder.
