Shan Masood’s been decent with the bat during the domestic season off late and hence, his performance seems to have helped him earn a first-time call to Pakistan’s One Day International (ODI) squad.

Still, this is a mind-boggling decision. The left-hander has been pretty ordinary during his Test career so far and from whatever we have witnessed, he lacks the ability to rotate the strike. Moreover, he is neither technically strong nor does he possess a wide-range of scoring shots. Then why has he been preferred over other deserving candidates like Sahibzada Farhan and over an experienced professional like Mohd. Hafeez has most definitely surprised critics from around the country.

2. Imad Wasim Snubbed

Only six months back Imad Wasim was considered as one of the blue-eyed boys of Pakistan’s Head Coach, Mickey Arthur. However, to their credit, Mickey and the selectors have not compromised on the fitness standards and have surprised everyone by setting an example and dropping Imad because he failed to meet the minimum standards that are set for selection qualification.

Imad then needs to pull up his socks or else his playing days may as well be numbered.

After not being selected for a single ODI in Zimbabwe Mohd. Hafeez (aka professor) has finally, been dropped from the squad. Even though, Chief Selector, Inzamam-ul-Haq has clarified that the all-rounder is still in the mix of things for the next world cup; this could well be the end of the road for the 37-year-old.
