In a swift response to the inquiry report related to the wheat and sugar scandal, PM Imran Khan has reshuffled his cabinet. The sugar crisis report named Khusro Bakhtiar, then Minister for National Food Security, PTI leader, Jahangir Tareen and PML-Q leader, Monis Elahi as prime beneficiaries of the scam.

Yet Another Cabinet Re-Shuffle

In the aftermath of the wheat and sugar crises reports, the Prime Minister re-shuffled his cabinet late Monday evening.

While Khusru Bakhtiar was removed from his portfolio as the Minister for National Food Security, Prime Minister Imran Khan appointed him as the Economic Affairs Minister. The response came two days after the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) released two reports on the sugar crisis and named PTI stalwarts as beneficiaries of the subsidies.

Handing over a fresh portfolio to Khusro Bakhtiar has not gone down too well with many Pakistanis.

People are calling out the Prime Minister for reshuffling the cabinet instead of holding the accused accountable.

Some are calling this move a “joke” as an accused minister has been handed over another ministry.

Many are calling for the dismissal of Bakhtiar while pointing out that a cabinet reshuffle cannot atone for the corruption charges against Bakhtiar.
