The likes of Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan, Hasan Ali, Shaheen Afridi and Mohd. Amir were phenomenol during the last few years in the format. Pakistan despite being the number side in the ICC T20 rankings lacks six hitters in their batting line up. Even the best batsman of the team and the format i.e. Babar Azam is more of a maneuver of the ball rather than a hitter. Harris Sohail on the other hand is no exception. Moreover, veterans Shoaib Malik and Mohd. Hafeez lost form and then are no longer part of the current set-up. People like Fakhar Zaman and Asif Ali who truly have the ability to hit the ball big haven’t really done justice to their talent off late. With a lack of big hitters then it is no wonder that Pakistan is struggling to sustain its top position in the format.

Nevertheless, there is no reason why the green shirts can’t win the ICC World T20 next year if they somehow manage to find a couple of big-hitters before the event. More importantly though, they need their bowlers to regain form as it is their bowling more than anything else that plays a major part every time they win!
