The #NZTriSeries opener saw Pakistan’s middle-order failing again during the #PakvsBan game. Still, the green shirts were able to win the contest by 21 runs. It is also worth mentioning here that Mohd. Rizwan as usual anchored the innings and scored 78 of 50 balls.
Here is a look at a few takeaways from the first match of the series that exposed Pakistan’s weakest area in the format once more.

Shan Masood while batting at the number three position scored 31 of 22 balls. All other including Haider Ali (6 runs), Iftikhar Ahmed (13 runs) and Asif Ali (4 runs) failed to impress once again even against a comparatively weak side like Bangladesh.

Iftikhar Ahmed, Asif Ali, Khushdil Shah and Haider Ali have all had a decent opportunity to prove their worth at the international level during the last few months. Still, none of them has really impressed. With the world cup around the corner, Pakistan it seems has no other choice but to at least replace Khushdil with Fakhar Zaman. If better sense prevails, bringing in Shoaib Malik ahead of Haider Ali seems logical too. Still, Malik might not make it to the squad for reasons that are impossible to comprehend!
