Players Who Hold The Key To PSL 3 Title

The initial few games of the third edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) has brought forth players to watch out for during the tournament. Here is a look at the key players from each franchise who hold the key to the PSL 3 title.

Sammy and Umaid for Zalmis

If Zalmis are to defend the title again, it is pretty obvious that Darren Sammy, their captain will have to remain fit and deliver the goods. Not only is Sammy arguably the best captain in the ongoing season of the competition but he has also shown brilliance as a finisher. Therefore, Zalmis need him throughout the season to ensure smooth sailing.

The other key player for Zalmis has to be Umaid Asif, who has most definitely bowled better than some of the senior players participating in the event so far. Hence, Peshawar Zalmi would hope that the pacer is able to continue with his good form.

KP and Watson for Gladiators

Ashes rivals once and team mates now, Kevin Pietersen(KP) and Shane Watson have been phenomenal while representing the Gladiators this far. While Watson has done a fine job providing good starts to the franchise, KP has ensured stability in the middle of an innings.

Hence, the Gladiators need the two legends of the game to keep delivering if they are to win the tournament.

Sangakkara and Malik for Sultans

The new franchise, Multan Sultans has performed decently this far. Still, their tail seems to be long and vulnerable. Therefore, the role of Sangakkara up the order and that of Shoaib Malik both as a captain and a middle order batsmen is significant for the franchise.

If the two remain in good form throughout the event then there is a good probability of Multan Sultans winning the tournament despite them being debutantes.

Afridi and Imad for the Kings

The best and the most competitive team of the competition so far has to be the Karachi Kings. The inclusion of Afridi and the decision to appoint Imad as the skipper has done wonders for the franchise.

Thus, the Kings need the two of them to keep performing if they are to win the trophy for the first time in the history of PSL.

Misbah-ul-Haq and Shahdab for the United

Islamabad United are doing better than Qalandars. However, they seem nowhere close to making it big this time around. The former tournament champions seem to have fitness issues and hence, their key players are yet to deliver.

The United then, need  Misbah-ul-Haq and Shahdab Khan to fire; otherwise, there is little hope and the writing seems to be on the wall for them.

McCullum and Fakhar for the Qalandars

Easily the worst team of the tournament so far, Lahore Qalandars seem to have no plan, no desire and hence, no players capable of getting them out of the crisis they find themselves in.

Still, it has to be their skipper Brendon McCullum and their top order batsman, Fakhar Zaman who need to deliver and deliver big(!), that too on a consistent basis to turn things around.

Without the two of them performing there seems no hope for the Qalandars to avoid elimination once more.
