The monsoon season this year, made way for multiple problems for the people of Karachi. One of them was visible when rain water after over flowing from gutters etc. began accumulating on different roads.

This then resulted in highlighting the poor sanitation and garbage disposal mechanisms in the port city.

Mustafa Kamal claimed that he could clean Karachi if given the power to do so in just 90 days.

It is also worth mentioning here that Kamal formed his own Pak Sarzameen Party after leaving Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). He has also served as a mayor of Karachi.

In light of this claim, Wasim Akhtar, mayor of Karachi appointed Mustafa Kamal as “Project Director Garbage”.

“In the light of the statement made and reported in electronic and print media that Syed Mustafa Kamal has shown his willingness to clean the city of Karachi within 90 days, I being mayor of Karachi, hereby designate Syed Mustafa Kamal as project director for garbage on voluntary basis with immediate effect and until further orders.

However, Mayor Wasim Akhtar suspended Mustafa Kamal from the post less than a day after he appointed him.

According to Akhtar, Mustafa Kamal did not come to office and was “busy in political point-scoring.”

“My sincerity was taken advantage of and used for politics. This means you [Mustafa Kamal] were not sincere in solving the problems of Karachi.”
