Jang Group’s publisher, Mir Javed ur Rehman passed away on Tuesday afternoon. He had been under treatment for lung cancer at a private hospital in Karachi.

The deceased was the brother of Mir Shakil ur Rehman, the editor-in-chief of the Jang media group.

Mir Shakil is currently in NAB custody awaiting bail in a land transaction case dating back to 1986.

Mir Shakil’s legal team had requested permission for the media baron to travel to Karachi in order to meet his ailing brother several days ago.

NAB’s Chairman on Monday had allowed him one day’s permission to visit his elder brother. The Chairman’s directives could however, not be implemented timely due to procedural impediments.

However, he has now been given permission by NAB to travel to Karachi for the final rites of his brother.
