First thing first, no matter what school of thought you belong to, slurring abuses at someone’s body is outright deplorable!

And yes by this we mean that Khalil-ur-Rehman, under no circumstances can be condoned for his despicable remarks against Marvi Sirmed on live television.

Next, regardless of whatever the discussion is around, instigating someone is not the healthiest way to prove a point.

As much as Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar’s behaviour reminded us why women need to march, in all objectivity, Marvi Sirmed did instigated him with her unnecessary use of, “Shut up,” before he had even begun to speak.

But again, if you think you’re being pushed against the wall, it doesn’t give you the right to take crass digs at someone’s body. Just get up and leave!

The clash between these two influential individuals and the controversy that consumed Pakistan for days only went on to divide an already divided society.

Many are of the view that Marvi Sirmed doesn’t represent an average Pakistani woman…

…while others believe that Khalil-ur-Rehman is not representative of Pakistanis either!

And while, almost a week after the infamous televised spat, people are still picking sides, there’s also an increasing number of younger liberals who seem alienated by both Marvi and Khalil.

Instead of picking Team Marvi or Team Khalil-ur-Rehman, perhaps it makes greater sense for the bickering lot to take a step back from the madness and hear these guys out.
