Indian actor, Rajiv Kapoor passed away at the age of 58. Reportedly, he succumbed to a heart attack on Tuesday. Indian film fraternity has mourned the loss of the late Bollywood actor.
Son of late legendary actor, Raj Kapoor and brother of Rishi Kapoor made his acting debut in Ek Jaan Hain Hum in 1983. He starred opposite Divya Rana in the film.
Rajiv played a hero in his father, Raj Kapoor’s last directorial venture Ram Teri Ganga Maili in 1985.
The film, starring Mandakini, Divya Rana, Saeed Jaffrey and Kulbhushan Kharbanda, told the story of a young woman, Ganga who went on a quest to find her long-lost lover. This was the film that got Rajiv, famously known as Chimpu, a taste of stardom.

Chimpu then went on to work in a number of other films as well after Ram Teri Ganga Maili. Some of them include: Aasmaan, Zabardast, Lover Boy and Hum To Chale Pardes.
Kapoor turned to direction and production after his last hit film Zimmedaar, that was released in 1990. Anita Raj and Kimi Katkar were seen in pivotal roles alongside Rajiv. Reportedly, Katkar and Chimpu weren’t on amicable terms while shooting for the film.
Rajiv directed his first film Prem Granath in 1996 that had the infamous duo Madhuri Dixit and Rishi Kapoor in it. However, his work as a producer in Henna, in 1991 garnered appreciation from multiple quarters. It also caught attention as it starred Pakistani actress Zeba Bakhtiyar in it.
Speaking of his personal life, Chimpu was the youngest son of Raj Kapoor and Krishna Kapoor, and brother of Randhir Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor.
Born on 25th August 1962, the late actor got married to architect Aarti Sabharwal after dating her for two years, in 2001. The two later got divorced in 2003. Actor Rajiv Kapoor had no children but he has left behind a brother.
