In a major development and following a judgment from an independent adjudicator discarded cricketer Umar Akmal’s ban over corruption charges was reduced by half. So, here is what happened.

So, What Exactly Happened?
Umar Akmal was banned for three years nearly three months back over corruption charges. Terming the initial judgment unfair the middle-order batsman challenged the decision and hence, independent adjudicator, retired Supreme Court judge, Faqir Mohammad Khokhar allowed concession to the 30 year old by reducing his ban from three to one and a half year.

So, When Will He Be Available To Play Again?
Technically, Umar Akmal should be eligible to play again from August, 2021. Nevertheless, he might have to undergo Pakistan Cricket Board’s procedures and formalities that might take another four to six month. So, it is just safe to say that provided the stylish batsman proves his form and fitness; he should be available again for international cricket some time during the year 2022.

Will Umar Akmal’s Ban Impact His Career Negatively?
Regardless of the recent decision; Umar’s career is likely to bear a negative impact because of the ban. He has a history of disciplinary and fitness issues and thus, the recent controversy is likely to signal the end of his international career to say the least.
