Prime Minister Imran Khan appealed to the developed world to give debt relief to developing countries like Pakistan during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Prime Minister, while addressing the international community in a video message underlined the additional challenges that developing and underdeveloped countries faced while controlling the coronavirus outbreak.

In the developing world, apart from containing the virus and dealing with the economic crisis, our biggest worry now is to save people from dying of hunger. The dilemma on the one side is to save people from Covid-19 and on the other to save them from dying of hunger due to prolonged lockdowns.

With the pandemic playing havoc with the global economy, countries like Pakistan are most at risk of financial devastation going forward. Given the gravity of the situation it would have been a good idea for the journalists to comment on the overall quality of the PM’s message rather than focusing entirely on his choice of clothes, no?
