Sarfraz is Pakistan’s most successful skipper in T20 cricket without a shadow of doubt. Still, PCB frankly had no other choice but to remove and drop him. The 32 year old had grown weak as a skipper and his over-all performance had gone down considerably. Hence, he was in definite need of a break from international cricket and the board had no other choice but to let go of him. So, it is most definitely a justified decision and not one where the panic button was pushed.

Historically, Pakistan has not done well in Australia. So, just in case history repeats itself; Azhar Ali is unlikely to say a word against the support staff and get in their bad books. Babar Azam is any way new and thus, he too will have little choice but to remain quiet.

Hence, Misbah-ul-Haq it seems did actually panic following the defeat to Sri Lanka and has eventually, played it safe by naming people like Azhar Ali and Babar Azam as captains who he knows will remain submissive at least for the first few months of their appointment.

By introducing so many changes ahead of the Australian tour, Misbah-ul-Haq has played it safe again. The 45 year old then will claim credit if Pakistan wins and will blame the rebuilding process if decent results don’t come.

Nevertheless, Misbah-ul-Haq has most definitely panicked and has looked to employ safer options for his own survival. Still, favorable results have to come sooner rather than later because this is not how he will be able to continue for too long!
