Fawad Chaudhry in an interview with the international news organisation, Voice of America, has revealed why Imran Khan has not been able to deliver what he had promised to the public.
Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhry, has put the blame of the government’s non-fulfillment on the shoulders of senior PTI members.
He started by mentioning that the public had voted for the incumbent government because of the party’s claims reform the “system.”
However, once the government came into power, there were many fights between senior party members including Asad Umar, Jehangir Tareen and Shah Mahmood Qureshi. And as a result of the internal conflict the actual mission of the government, according to Chaudhry has been compromised.
While giving an insight into the party’s internal politics he revealed, “When Asad Umar was the finance minister, Jehangir Tareen made every effort to get him removed and when Asad Umar came back, he forced out Jehangir Tareen.”
Imran’s core team broke up. The new people are frankly not aligned with his idea and maybe don’t have the capacity to do so. The infighting has caused a lot of harm to the party and its political team.
Talking about the role of the military in the current political scenario he said, “Army’s role has increased due to the weak political leadership. Army and other state institutions are fully supporting the premier as they don’t have other political options.”
The interview made way for an avalanche of public criticism.
The last few months have seen pressure mounting on Khan and his aides and if anything, Chaudhry’s recent interview has only added fuel to the fire.
The fact that a minister of the sitting government condones that it has failed to deliver because of internal strife is something that has left many demoralized.
These revelations by Fawad Chaudhry have opened up a Pandora’s box, posing serious questions on the competency of Imran Khan to lead his team.
Fawad Chaudhry’s claim that the PM doesn’t have the right people in his team further makes one question as to why the so-called wrong people are being tolerated.
