The social media apps Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, and YouTube are down for many users in Pakistan. They are having trouble accessing the social network. For many of them, even messages aren’t getting across on the messaging app.

Sources within the Information Ministry, on grounds of retaining anonymity, have informed Bolo Jawan that Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has suspended social media apps in Pakistan in anticipation of the TLP protests that are likely to be held after Jummah prayers today.

Nayatel – an internet service provider informed also its users: “On directions by PTA, below mentioned social media platforms have been blocked. Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube, TikTok, and Telegram. Inconvenience is regretted.”

According to the source within the ministry, the services will be resumed after 3 PM today.
