#CWC23 is scheduled to begin in India next week and so, here is a look at eleven players that the Babar Azam led dressing room should select during the first few games of the ICC event.
Pakistan’s batting line for at least the first few games is expected to comprise of Imam-ul-Haq, Abdullah Shafique, Babar Azam (c), Mohd. Rizwan (wk), Saud Shakeel and Iftikhar Ahmed. However, the team’s think-tank might play Salman Ali Agha ahead of Saud Shakeel which should not be a good decision because Saud is certainly better at negotiating spinners who are likely to play an important role in the Indian conditions.
Shadab Khan and Mohd. Nawaz are expected to keep their place despite not being in top form. Nevertheless, at least one of the two might as well lose their place in the playing XI as the tournament moves forward particularly, if the performance indicators are not as per the skipper’s expectation.
Comeback boy Hasan Ali is expected to share the new ball with Shaheen Afridi while Haris Rauf is likely to be the country’s third seamer. Nevertheless, Mohd. Wasim Junior might also play later in the tournament if either Hasan fails to deliver or if Pakistan opts to play four instead of three seamers at any point in the tournament.
