15. “Don’t Blush Baby”

January, 2016: Chris Gayle came under severe criticism for making sexist comments on air during the Big Bash when while giving an interview to the television presenter Mel McLaughlin he ended up saying, “That’s the reason I am here, just to see your eyes for the first time…Don’t Blush Baby”!

He was eventually fined by the team he played for during the tournament.

14. Amir’s Comeback

January, 2016: Muhammad Amir was finally able to make an international comeback following the end of his ban earlier in the previous year. However, with over a dozen catches dropped of his bowling he was unable to register a note-worthy performance.

February, 2016: The inaugural Pakistan Super League (PSL) turned out to be the most successful cricket activity of the year for Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the tournament was won by Islamabad United.

12. Brendon McCullum’s Record Breaking 100 and Retirement

February, 2016: McCullum broke the world record for the fastest Test century against Australia and retired from international cricket following the series.

11. Martin Crowe Passes Away

March, 2016: Martin Crowe who is regarded as the finest Kiwi batsman ever passed away following a long ailment on the 3rd of March, 2016.

10. West Indies Win ICC World T20

April, 2016: Carlos Brathwaite hit four successive sixes in the last over of the ICC World T20 final and managed a sensational victory for the West Indies who were able to lift the trophy for the second time in the history of the tournament.

09. Sun Risers Win IPL

May, 2016: Sun Risers Hyderabad defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to win the T20 tournament for the first time.

08. Pakistan Draw Series In England

August, 2016: Pakistan beat England by 10 wickets in the final Test match of the rubber and for the first time in 15 years managed to level a series on English shores.

07. Little Master Passes Away

August 2016: The little master Hanif Muhammad of Pakistan passed away at the age of 81 following a prolonged illness. He is the first Pakistani to have scored a triple century at the Test level.

06. Misbah Lifts the Mace

September, 2016: Misbah became the first Pakistani captain to lift the prestigious ICC Test Championship mace (presented to the top ranked team) ever since the ranking system was introduced way back in 2003.

October, 2016: Virat Kohli lifts the mace as India re-claim the number one position in the ICC Test rankings.

04. Bangladesh Beat England

October, 2016: Bangladesh beat England by 108 runs during the last Test match of the series in the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur. It was the first time that Bangladesh had managed a Test victory over an English side.

03. Australia Surrender to South Africa

October, 2016: World Champions Australia suffered a whitewash for the first time ever when during their tour to South Africa they had to return back home with a score line reading 5-0.

02. Asad Shafiq Makes History during the Test Match of the Year

December, 2016: The first Test match between Pakistan and Australia in Brisbane was by far the best Test of the year. The game saw Pakistan’s terrific chase falling short by 39 runs after Australia had set them a victory target of 490 runs. Asad Shafiq during the second innings of game displaced Gary Sobers when he scored a world record 9th century for any batsman while batting at number six position.

December, 2016: Azhar Ali became the first Pakistani batsman to have scored a double century in Australia during the second Test match of the rubber that was played at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
