We all know Pakistan’s hands-down HOTTEST couple, Zara Noor & Asad Siddiqui. They never shy away from public display of their affection and their pictures make our hearts skip a beat every now and then. The couple is also celebrated for their impactful acting skills. But this time around, their reason for making it to the headlines is completely different. Asad Siddiqui and Zara Noor are now challenging gender roles and, by the virtue of it, toxic masculinity in Pakistani society.

A picture of the couple is doing rounds on the internet where Asad can be seen applying henna on Zara’s hands who sits looking at the hubby sweetly. The sight of it melted our hearts and we were all love for the Mr. & Mrs.
But then a tweet was sent out regarding the picture that suddenly exploded on the website for all the wrong reason. A guy had the audacity to shame Asad for showing affection towards his wife. He called the actor “Ran Mureed” which translates to a being a woman’s disciple.
Few moments into posting this and people started giving this person a piece of their mind. Here’s how Pakistanis restored our faith in humanity!
This guy even went ahead and made a whole poll about it.
When people asked why, he had his reason ready!
This girl here corrected the term for the hateful tweeter!
And then the bar was raised!
Someone here needed to knock some sense into this guy and that’s exactly what she did!
I mean, how difficult it is to understand that there’s nothing wrong with ran mureedi!
It is heartening to see Pakistanis dismissing gender roles assigned by the social norms and not buying the concept of toxic masculinity. A husband doesn’t become a lesser of a man when he treats his wife with kindness, love and is not hesitant to show it through his actions; in fact he loses his manliness on doing the opposite of it.
Just like not letting the boys cry, being openly affectionate towards wife has also been denounced as wrong in the Pakistani households for years. However, couples like Zara and Asad Siddiqui are a reminder that we must not stop hoping and dreaming of a more progressive society in Pakistan and yes, how can we forget the COUPLE GOALS! <3
