5 Things That Complete a Pakistani Eid

Eid-ul-Adha is an occasion to memorialize the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (AS). The day, where every family member has many duties and responsibilities and yet they all somehow manage to enjoy themselves to the fullest.

For Pakistanis, Bari Eid is about much more than sacrificial animals.

Here is a list of 5 things which complete a Pakistani Eid.

Special Feelings for the Sacrificial Animal

We all get attached and develop feelings for the animals we choose for the big sacrifice. While one part of the heart remains calm and pleased as the sacrifice is given in the name of Allah, the second part grows a little sad, seeing the animal we cared about parting. None the less, sacrificing is the most important part of Eid-ul-Adha and it brings joy in the end.

Qasai Drama

How can a Pakistani Eid-ul-Adha be complete without a Qasai drama? Our qasai brothers are on another unexplainable level on this day. The never-ending negotiations on rates and being ditched at the last moment turns in to a nightmare and yet this happening every year is actually funny. O’ Lord! have mercy on those poor souls who get victims of seasonal qasais.

Meat Delivery

Responsibilities don’t come to an end even after all the meat chaos and mess. This is dedicated to all the people who have to take off their Eid clothes, get in to dirty shorts, deal with all the meat business and then have to ensure that every neighbor, relative and deserving person receives their share of the meat.

Freezer Loading

Finally, all that pre-Eid cleaning efforts and freezer/refrigerator servicing are coming to pay off. Almost, every freezer gets packed with favorite meat cut hoping it will last till next Eid.

The Get Together and BBQ Parties

What’s a Bari Eid without a grand BBQ party and meat feasts? Selecting the prime cuts, deciding the menus, meeting all our favorite cousins and family members and then enjoying all the taste food brings nothing but happiness all around.
