Sarfaraz Ahmed Isn’t The Same Anymore
Sarfaraz Ahmed was Pakistan’s T20 captain when the Gladiators appeared for the first time during the opening season of PSL. A lot has changed ever since. Sarfaraz is no longer a name to reckon with in limited overs cricket. He neither plays T20 cricket at the international level nor features regularly in league cricket. Hence, it is obvious that his time as an international and limited overs cricketer is fast coming to an end and therefore, it is important for the Gladiators to move on as well.

An Eye On The Future
During the last three or four years, Gladiators have not done well at all because of which they are now in danger of losing their fan base. Hence, it is important for them to do well during this season in order to win new fans without whom the franchise might not be able to sustain for too long.
Also important for the franchise is to prepare an able leader during this season and so, Saud’s appointment as the vice-captain is most definitely a good move.

Because Sarfaraz Ahmed Didn’t Do Well While Leading The #QG
Despite doing well during the initial seasons, Gladiators won only one title under Sarfaraz Ahmed. Even Lahore Qalandars under Shaheen Afridi have won two by now. So, during the last few years, both as a skipper and a team member, Sarfaraz Ahmed hasn’t really delivered the goods. Therefore, it just made sense to replace him with a renowned cricketer like Rilee Rossouw who to his credit has performed consistently in all kinds of conditions world-wide.
