Auj Pepsi Battle of the Bands

Pepsi Battle of the Bands, Season 4 concluded this past weekend with a finale that was most befitting for a show that successfully introduced Pakistan and the world to another batch of talented musicians.

And while its previous seasons deserve love for providing center stage to now household names such as Kashmir, Badnaam and Zarb, Season 4 has reserved a special place in Pakistan’s music history for launching, Auj.

Ever since, the show’s re-launch in 2017, there hasn’t been a band that not merely maintained a consistent upward trajectory but also embodied an unfaltering understanding of its craft. To Auj’s credit, with each successive performance it demonstrated both these highly valuable attributes.

From the moment the four-member band stepped onto the stage to perform its first single, Lafz, there was little doubt that it would prove to be a force to reckon with.

However, it wasn’t until their second performance, Janaa, that one realized the true magnitude and extent of the band’s talent.

From Abdur Rehman’s phenomenal vocals to Nasir Zaka, Syed Hasnain Ali and Muhammad Kashif’s musical excellence, Auj has surfaced as the quintessential jewel that Pepsi Battle of the Bands required to graduate from the annals of reality TV to an iconic music show.

This is the first time since the early 2000’s that Pakistan has found a quartet that – if it remains true to its sound – will one day find itself in the same league as the giants who judged them.

With the battle finally won, it is now time for Auj to conquer realms far beyond the platform of Pepsi Battle of the Bands. Going by its current credentials, Auj’s ascend to glory seems inevitable. However, whether Auj is able to handle the fame and fandom that it is likely to achieve very quickly will depend on three hallmarks that set apart the best from the rest: allegiance to its sound, conviction in its unity and – most importantly – humility.

With these characteristics under its belt and music on its mind, let this piece of writing be a testimony to the fact that with Auj, we have not just seen a new rock band come to life, but witnessed a chapter of history unfold before us.

    • Are you high on something ?? do you know anything about music ?? keep your comments to yourself bathroom singer !! Lol and try to be happy for Auj as they deserve it 100 %

  1. They are good but not good enough to become the next big thing.

But kudos to them, the vocalist shines when he adds his signature distortion, this is a niche where he can shine if their band builds songs around that but his low range however is very weak.
