Troubled Relationship With Senior Cricketers

Mickey Arthur by now has developed a troubled relationship with most senior cricketers across formats. Hence on the surface, removing him seems to be a straight forward decision; one that is likely to ensure improvement in the dressing room environment. In reality however, this might encourage trouble makers and make way for more of such incidents. PCB then surely, would not want to surrender in front of player power but it can’t also let the dressing room environment get out of hand. Therefore, PCB has quite a few things to consider before they make a final decision.

Improvement In Limited Overs Cricket

Pakistan were the number ninth ranked ODI side and had not been doing well in T20s as well when Mickey Arthur took over. The green shirts have shown decent improvement in both formats of the game ever since. They are in fact the number ranked T20 side at the moment. Hence, PCB has to think twice before letting go of Mickey.

A Sought After Coach

Media reports suggest that PCB wants to extend Mickey Arthur’s contract for another year. Mickey on the other hand wants an extension of two years. Reports also suggest that Pakistan’s head coach is also being considered by the English board to fill the same position in their dressing room. Hence, there is no doubt that he is a sought after coach and it is then obvious that PCB wants to be careful while making a decision with regard to extending Mickey Arthur’s contract.
