Twitter Spat Between Boxer Amir Khan & Federal Minister Ali Haider Zaidi Over Riffat Khan’s Treatment Leaves Everyone Confused!

A few days back, Riffat Khan, who at one point was Pakistan’s No. 1 women squash player announced that she was contemplating idea of giving up the sport. While elaborating further she also explained that the sport body in the country was not ready to bear financial expenditure of a career threatening knee ligament surgery because of which she was extremely frustrated with the kind of treatment she had received from people who matter.

Riffat only needed Rs. 350,000 for her knee ligament operation.

She reached out to masses via prominent publication, The Nation and announced that she’d be quitting the game if she did not receive any financial support from the government of Pakistan or Pakistan Sports Foundation (PSF).

Famous British boxer Amir Khan who is of Pakistani origin responded to Riffat’s call and promised to bear the expenses for her surgery.

Meanwhile, Minister of Human Rights, Dr Shireen Mazari also responded and assured the very next day informed that Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Syed Ali Haider Zaidi will bear the expenses for the concerned operation.

Following the successful surgery in Islamabad the 25 year old squash player thanked everyone for coming to her aid.

But then there was a clash between Amir Khan and Syed Ali Haider Zaidi on twitter as both gentlemen claimed to have paid for Riffat Khan’s treatment.

While responding to a tweet that explained that Amir Khan Foundation had paid for the operation, Zaidi claimed that in reality the bills were paid by Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) and not Amir Khan Foundation .

To set the record straight, PNSC paid for her operation! I heard @amirkingkhan offered to pay and many thanks for that, but @MaritimeGovPK had already stepped in.
Therefore, please take credit where it’s due 🙏

In response to this, Amir Khan attached transaction details and affirmed that he had paid for Riffat’s treatment.

Nevertheless, Syed Ali Haider Zaidi also came forward and provided a document that showed that the required amount had been transferred to the hospital’s account.
