Mohd. Hafeez registered a fantastic Test come back century against the Aussie boys only a few weeks ago. Ever since however, he has struggled to get going. His numbers in the last 3 Test matches are nothing much to talk home about. Therefore, there is no doubt that the opening batsman is likely to be dropped for the Test matches in South Africa if he fails to deliver in the series decider against the Kiwis.

Bilal Asif

Bilal Asif too like Mohd. Hafeez was fantastic during the first Test match against the Aussie boys. The off-spinner claimed 6 wickets in his debut Test however, he has not been able to meet the expectations ever since. Now because wickets in South Africa don’t provide much assistance to spinners and because Bilal has been off color too; there is this good probability of him being dropped for the tour.

A good performance against the Kiwis nevertheless, can still come in handy and might give selectors a reason to stick with him ahead of the other reserve spinner i.e. Shahdab Khan.

Imam has had injury issues and has been out of sorts ever since he has made a comeback. He is always under the scanner because of his relationship with chief selector, Inzamam-ul-Haq. Hence, another failure in the next Test can leave him under massive pressure – something that can for sure, can result in him being replaced with Fakhar Zaman.

Still, the fact that his opening partner too is in bad form might just allow Imam a little breathing space as far as his place in the Test side is concerned.
