Imam has had injury issues and has been out of sorts ever since he has made a comeback. He is always under the scanner because of his relationship with chief selector, Inzamam-ul-Haq. Still, the fact that his opening partner too is in bad form might just allow Imam a little breathing space as far as his place in the Test side is concerned.
