Provincial Minister for Information (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Shaukat Yousafzai became internationally viral a few days ago when his social media team forgot to turn-off the cat filter during a press briefing that was broadcasting live on Facebook.

Of course, Pakistanis were quick to hop onto the meme-making wagon that made the hilarious blunder by Yousafzai’s team even more amusing!

And just when we thought that the dust was settling on the cat filter fiasco, celebrated US comedian and late night host, Stephen Colbert featured the news on his CBS show!

Stephen Colbert does a weekly segment titled, “Meanwhile,” on his show which gives a quick round-up of viral global news. The cat filter debacle was made part of this segment.

“I like this! I think a lot more people will watch the Deocratic debate if they used a filter or two,” said Colbert suggesting that American politicians should take a leaf from Yousafzai’s press briefing.

The audience was in fits throughout!

Well, even if for humour’s sake, we’re just glad Pakistan made it to the Late Show with Stephen Colbert for news that was actually not so bad. After all, what better way to communicate a softer image of the country than through a fuzzy, cat friendly politician!
