Speaker Sindh Assembly, Agha Siraj Durrani Arrested by NAB

In the series of high profile arrests taking place in Pakistan, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested the speaker of Sindh Assembly, Agha Siraj Durrani from Islamabad on Wednesday. NAB had chosen to arrest the politician while he was on a private visit to the capital instead of his home province stating that Durrani was surrounded by a team of armed guards in Sindh and an arrest there could have led to violent resistance.

The speaker’s arrest was met with uproar in the National, Punjab and Sindh assemblies.

Not only was Durrani’s arrest condemned and protested by the opposition parties but the corruption watchdog was especially criticized for holding Durrani’s family “hostage” (including his wife, daughter and daughter-in-law) for 10 – 12 hours while the law-enforcers searched through his residence.

On the sidelines of the hotly contested match between the Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings, an unpleasant incident led to a serious spat between the high profile supporters of both the teams.

As per reports, after Wasim Akram was called names by the spectators cheering for the Qalandars, Akram, Imad Wasim and Muhammad Amir resorted to abusive gestures and language as a response.

What is most perturbing about the entire incident is that all three players have been accused of using derogatory language and gesturing inappropriately at women, some of whom were the immediate family members of the players on Lahore’s side.

A formal complaint against Karachi Kings has been lodged by the management of Lahore Qalandars and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has ordered an inquiry into the matter.

Iman Ali’s Shendi was the Talk of the Town

Super model and actress, Iman Ali tied the knot on Thursday in a star studded shendi ceremony. She married beau Babar Bhatti who is the grandson of Major Aziz Bhatti shaheed. He is the director of Green earth Canada.

Among others, Iman Ali’s shendi was attended by Ali Zafar and wife, Ayesha Fazli, Urwa Hocane, Farhan Saeed and ace make-up artist, Shahzad Raza.
