Returning Champions: Hazara University Win the Cricket Intercollegiate Tournament

Intercollegiate cricket matches that started in Hazara University (HU), Mansehra on 25 November recently concluded with HU winning the final match. Director Sports at Hazara University was the Chief Guest on the occasion of the final play-off.

A total of 9 teams took part in this tournament including young players from Graduate Colleges in Mansehra district.

The first semifinal was played between Hazara University and Lassa Nawab Degree College, while the second semifinal was held between Post Graduate College, Mansehra and Government College of Commerce and Management Sciences (GCMS), Mansehra. Resultantly, HU and Post Graduate College Mansehra surfaced as the winners and were pitted against each other during the final match of the series.

Hazara University won the toss and elected to bat first. They put together a total of 119 runs in 20 overs. The young batsmen from Post Graduate College, Mansehra could not match-up to prowess of the HU players and were all out after putting up a total of 60 runs on the score board.

Top performing players from Hazara University included, Amir Nawaz who made 46 runs and Harris who not only scored 33 runs but also took 3 wickets. From Post Graduate College, Fida and Syed took 3 wickets each.

Talking to BoloJawan.com, the Director of Sports at Hazara University said, “The physical and non-course activates are very important for the students because these activities provide our young people with an opportunity to unwind.” He further said, “I feel a sense of pride to see the students of HU, who had put in so much hard work into the tournament to win it and take home the trophy!”
