Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi breaks Pele’s all-time record for goals scored with a single club by netting his 644th career goal. He surpassed Pelé’s record goal haul for the Brazilian side Santos during their La Liga match against Real Valladolid.

Messi scored the record-breaking goal in the second half of Barca’s 3-0 win at Valladolid, when he collected Pedri’s backheel, took a touch then slotted the ball past goalkeeper Jordi Masip for a finish into the corner of the net.

Messi joined Barcelona in October 2004 at age of 16 year. He is third-youngest player ever to play for Barcelona and youngest to ever score in LA Liga game in 2005. He is one of the finest and most exciting footballing talents in the world.

The Brazilian legendry footballer Pele also appreciated Messi on the occasion. Pele congratulated Messi through Instagram. The message focused on how difficult and rare it is in football to build such an exceptional career with one club.

Messi needed 748 games to reach Pele’s record. Fans around the world are congratulating and applauding their hero for his outstanding performance.
