According to a press release issued by the Press Information Department (PID), the Prime Minister’s Office, Pakistan handle has been constantly gaining popularity in the digital sphere which had no presence before July 2018.

The microblogging website is considered an essential and authentic source for any official communication and this Twitter account has provided a platform to disseminate all news, activities, event and interviews involving Imran Khan.

It has assisted the PM office in reaching over 150 million people in the span of two years with over 6700 tweets.

Many other heads of states’ accounts, diplomats, and international media have been following the PMO official account. As per the press release issued by the Press Information Department (PID) the Twitter handle has played a key role in promoting the narrative of the state directly through the chief executive of the country.

According to PID, the presence of this Twitter handle is crucial in the digital age to present transparent and factual news about the country. This is especially considered important given that propaganda mongers are actively spreading fake news and misinformation on the micro-blogging site.
