A month prior to his next big release, Pathan, King Khan seems to have landed in hot waters as #BoycottShahRukhKhan became one of the top trends.
The trend is being promoted by netizens who claim that their religious sentiments have been hurt by the movie. They have shared some news clips and images from the movie to support their argument.
The hurt netizens have argued that the Bollywood superstar has repeatedly hurt their emotions by supporting the Pakistan cricket team and by commenting that religious intolerance has increased in India.
They are using the hashtag #BoycottShahRukhKhan to express their disapproval of the actor.
To further support their claims, pained Indians have shared Khan’s old images with Pakistan’s current PM Imran Khan to allege that he’s on a mission to defame their country.
As the angry Indians went on a spree to spew hate towards the Dilwale star, his fans immediately came to his rescue and started another trend on Twitter called #WeloveShahRukhKhan. They also used the phrase SRK PRIDE OF INDIA in their tweets to support the actor.
“At least he didn’t make these movies for election propaganda or box-office,” wrote a fan on Twitter.
“#ShahRukhKhan being introduced at the World Economic Forum. We are proud of you Khan Saab. Keep shining like the star you are!” said another fan as he came to King Khan’s rescue.
This is an ongoing battle and none of the sides are willing to calm down, so only time will tell which side comes out as a winner.
