CM Usman Buzdar Launches “Rehmatul-lil-Alameen Scholarship,” For Deserving Students. Here’s A Quick Summary For You.

CM Punjab Usman Buzdar launched the “Rehmatul-lil-Alameen” scholarship for intermediate and undergraduate students on Monday. He also inaugurated its website at a ceremony held at his office.

Mr. Buzdar informed that Rs. 1 billion have been allocated for the scholarship under which they hope to assist 14,891 students enrolled in public sector colleges and universities. 50% of the scholarships will be awarded on merit while the other 50% has been allocated for need-based scholarships.

Eligibility Criteria for Rehmatul-lil-Alameen Scholarship

Out of the 14,891 scholarships, 891 of them have been allocated to university students. Here’s the eligibility criteria for availing the scholarship:

1. Scholarship on SSC results

Students need to have secured at least 60% marks in their matriculation exams from a public sector school. They must be enrolled in public sector colleges within two years of passing the examinations. They must not be availing any other scholarships.

2. Criteria for need-based scholarship

Students who wish to apply for the need-based scholarship, their parents’ monthly income must be less than or equal to Rs. 25,000, and they must not own more than 5 acres of agricultural land or 5 Marla urban property.

It is pertinent to note here that out of the 50 percent of this scholarship, a 10 percent quota has been reserved for children of government employees.

3. Criteria for merit-based scholarship

The eligibility criteria for merit-based scholarship is that students must be the highest scorers in the respective districts. The results will be verified by the Higher Education Department (HED) by matching the scores provided by Punjab board.

It is important to note here that the merit of each candidate will be decided on the basis of their district of residence, and not on the district of the region where they are admitted.
