Every 90’s kid in Pakistan knows Haroon Rashid, thanks to his stint in one of the most famous boy bands in Pakistan, Awaaz. After the original trio, i.e. Haroon, Fakhir and Asad moved on to other ventures, Awaaz stopped producing music as a one unit.

And while Haroon and Faakhir, both pursued hugely successful solo careers as vocalists, we haven’t heard them produce new music in almost a decade.

They haven’t stopped entertaining us though!

Haroon, for instance has since become one of the most prolific producers as far as animation in Pakistan is concerned. So, while an entire generation grew up listening to his music, the off-springs of that same generation are growing up watching Haroon’s incredible endeavour, Burka Avenger.

A true entertainment veteran, Haroon good-heartedly tweeted a video today giving a huge shout-out to the young musicians behind the recreation of his 2002(!) hit, Mehbooba.

Hamza Tanveer, Ali Asghar and Ali Tariq powered the vocals in the cover version while at least 15 other musicians joined hands to play various instruments, giving the rendition the “big” sound that blew away not just Haroon but the rest of Pakistan as well!

We’re just as awe-struck by the performance as the rest of the country! With Nescafe Basement 5, the show has certainly upped its game and we are so, immensely thankful for the great music that those guys are sending our way!

Keep it coming!
