17-year-old Fiza Syed, a Pakistan born, who has been raised in Dubai has been elected as Vice President (VP) of finance for Student Senate for Community Colleges in California.

Ms. Syed has been elected as VP finance for one hundred-and-sixteen community colleges, and she will be representing a whopping 2.1 million students in California, USA. This is indeed a massive achievement for someone this young.

Fiza Syed earned herself a place in Student Senate for California Community Colleges (SSCCC) after taking the lead by 10 votes in an online poll conducted last month. She has won this title by receiving 43 votes among 76 other delegates.

The 17-year-old is a freshman at De Anza College in Cupertino, California, but she’s currently pursuing her degree online in Dubai due to the ongoing pandemic. She’s also beyond thrilled and honored to be a part of such a prestigious platform.

Reforms she aims to bring for students
With bigger shoes to fill, Fiza aspires to implement reforms for students to cater to their needs in these unprecedented times.
She aims to work towards increasing SSCCC budget by finding donors and hosting fundraisers to obtain multiple sources of revenue. This will, in return, help in allocating funds towards student jobs, stipends, and scholarships to support community college students, as they have it tougher than others in the current pandemic scenario.
