Delhi has remained the focal of protests ever since the Indian government came up with the controversial new citizenship law.

And now several clashes between pro and ati new citizenship law has left the city bleeding.

According to reports, the two groups have been clashing since Sunday while heavy stone pelting from both sides.

The situation has tensed as Trump is on his visit to India and dozens of banners reading “Trump go back” are becoming visible.

Several journalists have took it to social media to share what they have been witnessing on ground for the past couple of days.

Another Reuters correspondent shared the visuals of protest happening 11 miles away from Hyderabad House, where Trump and Modi are expected to have a meeting.

According to NDTV, four people including a cop were killed and almost 50 people were injured after protesters clashed in India’s capital.

According to the publication, protestors threw stones, set ablaze vehicles and shops turning the city into a war zone.

India’s junior home minister G. Kishan Reddy said the violence was a conspiracy to shame India globally during Trump’s visit.

Despite harsh measures, the riots have not stopped, resulting in overnight clashes in different parts of the city.

People have been protestings have been in Delhi since December 2019, after the Modi government amended the country’s six-decade-old citizenship law.

The new citizenship law grants nationality to non-Muslims from three neighbouring Muslim-dominated countries – Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

While it threatens the Muslim minority in India and goes against its secular traditions.
