US National Security Advisor, John Bolton announced two weeks ago that Washington was deploying aircraft carrier and bombers in the Middle East on the account of increasing threats posed by Iran to the US and her Gulf allies. Since then the US-Iran tensions have seen a new high!

How it all started…

Ties between the US & Iran had an unprecedented improvement when the two entered JCPOA along with P5+1 states and the European Union under Obama’s administration in 2015. But Trump, like every other Obama’s legacy, had to undo this one as well.

In May 2018 the Trump administration withdrew from the nuclear agreement with Iran and reimposed sanctions, hurting latter’s economy. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) was also declared a terrorist entity by the US.

Fast forward to last week, four oil tankers were sabotaged off the UAE coast and Saudi pipeline was bombed by Iran backed Houthi rebels. While no specified or strong proof has been found against Iran in the “sabotage” incident so far, it’s not difficult to guess whose work that could be.

The development has only led the US to impose more stringent sanctions on Iran’s oil exports, sent aircraft carrier and bombers to the Middle East and called back diplomatic personnel from Iraq.

Amidst all this sabre rattling between the two states, from what seems like his official account, Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei has sent a tweet that is troll level 1000. See for yourself!

People’s reaction to the BURN statement by the Supreme Leader is as savage as the tweet itself.

Did you ever imagine that a day would come when the world leaders would take a dig at each other on social media and the commoners would get to be their hype men and women?! At least, we didn’t!

That said, we genuinely hope that the animosity between the US and Iran remain limited to Twitter and we don’t get to see another episode of violence in the already war-torn region. So we request both the leaders to raise an army of trolls instead of sending heavily equipped forces on tground – that’s both cheaper and safer for our children!
