PTI’s Usman Dar Made Fun Of Hardworking Pashtuns & This Is Not Okay!

Usman Dar, who is Special Adviser to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs has been heavily slammed for making fun of the working class on a live TV show.

He was invited as a guest in “To the Point” with Mansoor Ali Khan on Express News.

During the show, Usman Dar was criticizing JUIF’s dharna but went overboard and used made work class pashtuns target of his criticism.

Dar compared the protestors to street vendors and said that their end would not be good.

His language reflected that being a pashtun street vendor is something to be embarrassed about.

Yah jo aksar gali mohaloon mein pathan aate hain aur 500 rupay wala kambal 50 rupay mein dey kay chalay jate hain, inkay sath bhi yahi hoga, aap dekhain gay end mein.”

PML-N guest Hina Pervez Butt called out Usman for using the word pathan in that context and said that we are all Pakistanis.

The host, Mansoor Ali Khan also asked Usman Dar to take his words back which he did.

Pakistanis were really angry at Usman Dar and used social media to express their displeasure. Soon, #Shame on Usman Dar became a top trend.

Member National Assembly (MNA) and leader of Pushtoon-Tahafuz-Movement (PTM), Mohsin Dawar also reacted to Usman Dar’s remarks.

Twitterati said that hardworking people are more dignified than corrupt people in power.

Pakistanis were disappointed to see educated people resorting to such bigotry.

After heavy backlash, Usman Dar issued an apology on Twitter.

We hope – although given past precedent there is little reason to be hopeful – that political representatives learn the lesson and think a million times before speaking on ethnic issues, especially on live television.
