Pakistan has a long history of making things tough for themselves in big tournaments and the 2019 cricket world cup is no exception. So, here is a look at possible scenarios that will help Pakistan to qualify for the semi-final stage of the ICC world cup.
The Green Shirts Need To Win The Next 3 Games
First things first! Pakistan needs to win their remaining three games that are scheduled against New Zealand, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Moreover, they can ill-afford a wash-out and also need to ensure decent margins of victories in order to boost their run-rate that for now is the second worst in the points table. In case, Pakistan wins all its games from here onwards; they end on the points table with 11 points and thus, will need other front-runners to finish their quota of poll games with lesser points.

Not Worry About Australia, New Zealand and India
Mathematically, the green shirts can still topple Australia, New Zealand and India in the race to the semi-finals if results don’t quite go in the favour of the aforesaid sides.
Nevertheless, from the practical perspective all three teams are almost through and hence, there is no need to worry about them as of now.

Pray For England To Lose
Pre-tournament favorites England play Australia, New Zealand and India next. All three opponents are difficult to manage and therefore, there is still hope for the national side. So, Pakistan besides winning all of its remaining games also needs England (who are at 8 points at the moment) to lose at least two out of their matches.

Hope For Bangladesh Not To Surprise
Even if England doesn’t win a single game from here on wards, Pakistan will still need to beat Bangladesh who are in prime form and hope that they don’t surprise the green shirts. The Bengali tigers currently have 7 points from as many games. Hence, Bangladesh qualifies if they manage to beat both India and Pakistan and if England is unable to secure more than 10 points during the group stage of the mega event.
