Prime Minister Imran Khan is set to leave for Malaysia on a two-day official visit today. The PM was scheduled to visit Malaysia during first Kuala Lumpur Summit last year in December. However, due to the possible division in Muslim Ummah and the rising tensions, he had not taken part in the summit.

1. To control damage after Pakistan pulled out of the Kuala Lumpur Summit in December last year.

Imran Khan’s last minute cancellation to attend Kuala Lumpur Summit last year in December was rumored to be pressurised by Saudi Arabia. The visit is significant to clear the economic relations with Malaysia.

2. Several MoUs to be signed between the two countries.

3. Dialogues on trade conditions between the two countries.

A delegation-level discussion to promote trade between Pakistan and Malaysia is expected during the visit.

4. The visit will also provide an opportunity to discuss bilateral relations and investment in the country.

5. CEOs of well-known companies will meet Imran Khan to give presentation on their future plans of investment in Pakistan.

Companies including EdotCo, Proton Automobile, Minconsult and Penumbra Communications along with Malaysian officials will present their plan to invest in Pakistan.

6. Imran Khan will also address a think-tank event organised by the Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) of Malaysia.
