Tarek Fatah, a former Pakistani journalist now based in Canada is notorious for spreading fake news and content that routinely attracts an angry uproar from Pakistanis in particular and sometimes from Muslims at large.
In a recent tweet, the journalist posted a video in which a woman was seen refusing to have the polio drops administered to her children.
“Pakistani mother slams the door shut in the face of Polio workers. Screams at the two female volunteers: “I will never ever allow my children to take these drops. Never never will my kids drink these drops. Never,” wrote Fatah alongside the video.
Pakistanis were quick to point out that the video posted by Fatah was in fact a clip from Mehwish Hayat and Fahad Mustafa starrer Load Wedding.

But there were many non-Pakistanis who actually fell for Fatah’s ploy to the frustration of many!
Not one to shy away from conflict, Mehwish Hayat soon joined in the commotion, retweeting Fatah’s tweet with a scathing comment.
Hayat’s scathing response read, “Thank u for giving ur 2 cents on this but pls first verify the source b4 posting next time. It’s a scene frm my movie”loadwedding”,the polio worker is me & that woman an actress.Through the film we were raising awareness of the issue. Glad 2 see our performances were so convincing.”
