Peace Point at AJK university depicted the real face of Pakistan - full of tolerance and compassion

A number of commentators are of the view that violence is an over rated phenomenon. Still, sadly violence continues to attract people in significant numbers. Moreover, in case of a conflict, youth and particularly, the teenagers are most likely to resort to violent behavior. To explain the significance of peace and tolerance through various conflict resolution strategies students of the University of AJK, Muzaffarabad initiated an exceptional project, “Peace Point”. Through this project the students hoped to introduce the world to the real face of Pakistan – one that is full of compassion and tolerance.

During the execution of the program a peace corner was setup for a day where students were engaged in different activities that emphasized on the importance of peaceful co-existence.

Moreover, following the completion of the activity the slogans painted on a signature wall within the university campus, continue to serve as a daily reminder for other students and visitors of the importance of harmony and tolerance.

The students of AJK university were supported by Pakistan Youth Change Advocates (PYCA), a civil society organization working to promote peace and development through youth participation.
